Love Kelham started with businesses and residents across Kelham Island and Neepsend wanting to get to know each other properly — to connect, swap ideas and back one another up — and showcase what the area has to offer. That meant having somewhere to bring all the events happening every week into one place, rather than scattered across separate pages, group chats and followings. So we built a hub.
One site, every venue, one shared calendar. Venues subscribe, get their own page, and add their events straight in — so whether you're after a night out, a Sunday roast, or a gallery to wander round, it's all right there, easy to find, whenever you fancy it.

How we got here
A short history of the district
1100s
One of Sheffield’s oldest manufacturing sites, dating back over 900 years when the River Don was diverted to power a nearby mill, creating a spit of land sandwiched between the natural river and the artificial channel.
Industrial Revolution
The area supercharged, becoming a powerhouse for steel, iron and metalwork, helping Sheffield become world renowned as the ‘City of Steel’, with breweries, cotton mills and artisan makers crowding the banks of the Don.
Post-Industrial
Times changed and heavy industry began moving to other shores. Back-to-back terraced houses that had been hastily erected to accommodate the area’s booming workforce were torn down, but many of the cutlery and steel works, workshops and pubs remained.
Re-Birth
Property prices in the area naturally dropped, bringing with it an influx of artisans and independents, breathing life into a long-neglected area. Kelham once again became part of the cultural zeitgeist as the setting for Arctic Monkeys’ ‘When the Sun Goes Down’, with the band having honed their early sound rehearsing at Yellow Arch Studios on Burton Road.
2010s onwards
What was a handful of independent openings became a genuine destination. Street food OGs Peddler Market launched at their Burton Road site in 2015 with food halls, street food markets, independent breweries, bars, bakeries, galleries, restaurants and more, quickly becoming one of Sheffield’s most-talked-about nights out, with a character no other part of the city quite matches.
Now
A real community has grown, with residents and business owners alike coming together under the Love Kelham banner to showcase the best the area has to offer in its places and people.
